Frequently asked questions

Does converting stereo to mono lose quality?
Converting to mono combines the left and right channels into one. No data is lost in the encoding, but the spatial stereo separation is removed. The resulting mono signal is clear and consistent. Processing runs locally on your server.
Can I swap left and right channels?
Yes, SnapOtter can swap the left and right channels of a stereo file. This is useful for fixing recordings where the channels were accidentally reversed. All processing happens on your own self-hosted instance.
Will converting mono to stereo create surround sound?
No. Converting mono to stereo duplicates the single channel to both left and right. It does not add spatial effects or surround sound. For stereo widening, a dedicated audio editor is recommended. Processing stays on your server.
