Frequently asked questions

Does trimming reduce audio quality?
When possible, SnapOtter uses stream-copy mode which trims without re-encoding, preserving the original quality exactly. If re-encoding is necessary, high-quality settings are used. All processing happens locally on your server.
How precise can my trim points be?
You can set start and end times with millisecond precision. For stream-copy mode, trims snap to the nearest keyframe. Re-encoding mode supports exact frame-accurate cuts. Everything processes on your own infrastructure.
Can I trim multiple sections from one file?
This tool extracts a single continuous section defined by start and end points. For multiple cuts, you can run the tool multiple times on the same source file. Processing stays on your self-hosted server.
