Frequently asked questions

Does padding reduce image quality?
No, the original image pixels are untouched. Padding simply adds colored space around the image to reach the target ratio. All processing runs on your self-hosted SnapOtter instance.
Can I pad to an exact pixel dimension instead of a ratio?
This tool works with aspect ratios. For exact pixel dimensions, combine with the resize tool. Both run locally on your server, so chaining operations is fast and private.
What background colors can I use for the padding?
Any solid color via hex value, including white, black, or brand colors. Transparent padding is also available when outputting to PNG. Processing stays entirely on your self-hosted server.
