Frequently asked questions
- Which audio formats are supported?
- SnapOtter supports MP3, WAV, OGG Vorbis, FLAC, AAC, M4A, and WMA for both input and output. You can convert freely between any combination. All encoding runs locally on your server.
- Will converting to a lossy format reduce quality?
- Converting from a lossless format like WAV or FLAC to a lossy format like MP3 involves some quality reduction, but you can minimize it by choosing a higher bitrate. Converting between lossless formats is perfectly lossless. All processing stays on your server.
- Can I adjust the bitrate?
- Yes, you can set the target bitrate for lossy formats. Higher bitrates produce better quality at larger file sizes. For lossless formats like FLAC, the bitrate is determined automatically. Processing happens on your own infrastructure.
